Bouncy Bouncy!

Mikayla's Grandpa John and Great Grandpa Cliff delivered a very special gift today from her Grandma Joan and Uncle Jason. It was her very first bouncer! She loves it! Now she has a fun place to go during her 'awake time.' She loves looking at the bright animals and feeling the 'calming vibrations' between bounces. Pretty soon she might even be able to reach the animals!

2 week visit to doc

This first photo is from last night when Mikayla was getting her beauty rest. We call it Baby burrito!
Dad got her ready in the morning and the other pics are car seat shots.

Her new stats are:
Weight 8 lbs 1.4 oz
Length 20.5
Head circumference 36.1 cm
She is in the 50 percentile for all... But certainly not average!

Mother's Day

 Mikayla was so lucky that she could spend Mother's Day with all of her Moms.

Little Monkey's Uncle

Today Mikayla visited her youngest uncle - Uncle Jason!

Mikayla's Closet

Mikayla is one lucky baby!  She has a mirror door closet filled with cute clothes and fun fashion accessories.  Here is one of her first pictures looking into the mirror.  Now we will open her closet for all to view.  It is a bit like the closet from "Clueless" but without the electric motor!

Bath Time!

Today Mikayla had her first REAL bath in the sink. She didn't like it very much, but from what I hear it was better than the bath she had in the hospital. For Mikayla, the best part of her bath was when it was over.

She liked being dried off and she especially liked being put in her enormous zip-up hooded towel. I think she wishes all of her clothes were zip-up hooded towels.

Today Mikala is all about fashion.  She is a "fashionista" in diapers!  She is wearing a beautiful pink Carter's sack with printed flowers.  It is a perfect outfit to show off her tiny feet and long fingers!  She is quite delighted by the comfortable cotton knit and is happy to have her mom and grammy close by!

Mikayla gotta sneeze

I have always been allergic to the light. Whenever I go from a shady room to a bright light I tend to sneeze uncontrollably. This is a snippet of what 23 and me describes this phenomenon as:

The “photic sneeze reflex” refers to the tendency to sneeze when moving from relative darkness into bright light—most often sunlight. For many people there are just two or three sneezes, but one researcher documented up to 43! No one really knows what causes these un-induced sneezes. No matter what the cause, the photic sneeze reflex, or "ACHOO syndrome" is pretty common. So much so that it's even alluded to in the Berenstain Bears children's books!

 Apparently Mikayla inherited this from me.

Baby Hiccups

Mikayla had numerous hiccups while in Laura's belly. This was the first time we saw the hiccups on the outside. Too funny.

Mikayla is born

Mikayla was born on April 30th at 6:57 PM. She came out screaming.

After her "extraction" she finally got to meet Mom. From the outside ;).

 And Dad too.

After being taken to her room, Laura got to hold the being that had been kicking her ribs for several months.

The nurses ensured that she was very healthy but also very dirty. Therefore, off to her first bath. Mikayla was not pleased.

Back from her bath, she finally got to have some rest from all of the day's drama. Her fight with the vacuum extractor made her eyes a little puffy, I suppose that is the price of freedom.
