Cutie Outfit Photo Shoot

Mikayla got a really cute outfit with a matching hat from her Aunt Dawn, Jason, Aaron and Cianna in Phoenix. It was so cute I just had to do a photo shoot so we could show her friends and family. Here she is in her cutie little outfit (warning: I took a lot of pictures!):

Sit Mikayla, Sit!

Last week Mikayla surprised us out of the blue with her new sitting skills. She gave us our first show when she sat up from a reclined position on my lap (see video).

Then we figured out that she could sit on her own for several seconds unassisted while we were showing her some new toys. Now all she wants to do is sit! Unfortunately she is still pretty unstable, so she needs close supervision while sitting. Here are  some  pictures of me assisting her while sitting today. She kept trying to get Nibbler and thus kept tipping herself over:

"It's Nibbler!"

"Oh hey Nibbler"

"Come back here Nibbler!"

"Hmmm...this blanket is almost as good as Nibbler"

Luckily Mikayla has a special chair where she is allowed to sit for as long as she wants and read books and such (see video):

She also enjoys using her sitting skills while going on errands like getting supplies at Lowes. She was ready to take control of the race car shopping cart!

Hooded Towel Sack - Before and After

During Mikayla's last bath, Chris brought her hooded towel sack to dry her off afterwards. We hadn't put her in the hooded towel sack for over a month, and to my dismay, she has already outgrown it! Her legs are no longer able to stretch out in the bottom of the sack, so she really doesn't like to wear it anymore.

The first time I put her in this towel sack she was 2 weeks old and absolutely swimming in it. One of my friends said I'd be surprised how quickly she grows into it. Now, I'm even more surprised to see how quickly she grew OUT of it!

2 week old Mikayla in towel sack - her arms couldn't even reach the sleeves

3.5 month old Mikayla in towel sack - it's hard to tell, but her head is crammed in the hood and she needs to bend her legs to fit them in the bottom of the sack.

Mikayla's a Chameleon

Where's Mikayla? We can't find her. Thanks to her sweet new leggings from the Ciruli's, Mikayla has fully assimilated with her room decor.

Thanks Cindy, Dan, Sawyer, Callie and Finn! We love them!

College Pressure

Mikayla is already feeling some major college pressure. Chris and I (as well as many of our friends) are partial to Cal Poly. So Mikayla has several Cal Poly onesies, Cal Poly socks and even a square on her quilt that says 'Future Mustang.' Mikayla's Aunt Christina and Uncle Boris went to Boalt Law school at Cal Berkeley, so they've given Mikayla a mini Cal cheerleader outfit as well as some Cal pajamas. Still, Aunt Lisa may have given Mikayla the biggest bribe of all by storing her Corvette with it's MIT license plate in our garage. I have a feeling Mikayla's going to have some tough college decisions to make in the future. Luckily she has a few years to decide. Oh yeah, and we're open to any other college bribes people want to send her way :)

"Decisions, decisions..."

"They all seem so great!"

"I'll have to think about this..."

Mikayla's Giant Brain

Yesterday Aunt Lisa came to visit Mikayla for the first time in a few weeks. She was impressed by how much Mikayla has grown, especially her head! It is true, Mikayla's head is growing very quickly. Her favorite hat (the only hat that used to fit her) is now too small. Many of her headbands got too small a few weeks ago. My mom modified the headbands to add some more room but they are already getting small again.

Aunt Lisa also had a very big head as a baby and she ended up having a very big brain. So Mikayla must have a big brain too...right? Either way, big-brained Aunt Lisa had a great time visiting her potentially big-brained niece and I got some great pics of their beautiful big heads :)

Mikayla Finds Her Voice

Yesterday Mikayla found her voice! Until this point she giggled and cooed in short spurts, but yesterday she started cooing non-stop. Now when she sees something she likes she coos and coos seemingly endlessly. She coos a lot when she's outside, when she looks at her mobile and when she looks in the mirror. In fact, I have her in my lap as I'm writing this post and when she saw her photo on the screen she started cooing at it. I'm glad she already has a positive self image :) Here's a video of her cooing while laying outside:

THREE Months Old!

Mikayla is THREE months old! She is officially an infant (as opposed to a newborn). I have to agree with the experts and say that an infant is a lot different than a newborn. Here are some milestones she reached for her three month birthday:

1) SLEEPING - She slept for eight hours straight in her OWN ROOM last night! (I was so proud!)
2) BATHING - She outgrew the sink so she took a bath in the real bathtub last night and loved it!
3) CLOTHING - She outgrew all of her 0-3 month clothes! It happened exactly the day she hit 3 months, none of them fit anymore.
4) HEALTH - She got her first set of vaccinations (we are a little behind schedule on this, but I didn't want her to get them while she had a cold).
5) WEIGHT - She is over 13 pounds! (My arms are starting to get tired if I've been holding her for a while)

She is such a big girl now! Here is her three month old picture compared to her two and one month old pictures and also a video showing her latest ability: trying to eat things. In the video she has decided to eat the pig.

Here are some bonus pictures of her taking a bath in the REAL bathtub:

She loves the pig-puppet wash cloth.
It tickles her under the chin and eats her arms.
